Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Global Affairs Canada
Marie Gervais-Vidricaire retired in 2017 after 37 years in the Canadian Foreign Service, notably as Ambassador to Germany (2013-2017) and Austria with concomitant accreditation to the International Atomic Energy Agency (2005-2009). She also served at the Canadian missions to the United Nations in New York and in Geneva as well as in Mexico, Colombia, and France. At headquarters, she held various high-profile positions such as Director General of Global Issues (2001-2005) and of the Stabilization and Reconstruction Taskforce (2011-2013) and as a member of the Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office (1989-1991). In 2009-2010, she worked under the chairmanship of Madeleine Albright as a member of the Group of independent experts which produced the New Strategic Concept adopted by NATO at the Lisbon Summit. In 2003-2005, she sat on the Board of Directors of the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development.
