The Circle for Democratic Solidarity
Applying lessons of inclusive democracy from this land and from our allies abroad

Learn
As authoritarianism spreads, democracies like ours can find strength by learning from one another and adapting best practices. This organization exists to equip citizens to adapt those lessons to today’s Canada. Read our study on the promise of Democratic Solidarity

Meet your fellow citizens and take action
We organize regular events to study challenges to our democracy and decide together on the action we will take. Join our book club, listen to others making a difference or take part in our next field trip

Contribute to the truth about residential schools
Democratic societies embrace truth. Through the National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation and the Final Report on Missing and Disappeared Children, we have an opportunity to acknowledge it and the survival of other nations in this land.
Join the Remembering Project to support survivors as we collectively add to our knowledge of the truth.

Even volunteers need resources to conduct research, visit residential schools and build relationships! Help us grow into a national movement of active citizens taking action to strengthen Canada’s democracy.

Our Mission
Canada has much to learn from other democracies. We adapt best practices to pressing issues facing Canada to improve our democracy. Our current focus is on applying memory culture practices to engage all Canadians in confronting the legacy of residential schools
