
Robert Hage, University of Calgary
Robert Hage is a Fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and an Executive Fellow and the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. He was a Foreign Service Office for 38 years with the Department of Global Affairs and served as Canada’s Ambassador to Hungary and Slovenia, as Director General for Europe and Director General for Legal Affairs. He was also Principal Counsel for the Canada-USA Free Trade Agreement, Counsel on the NAFTA Environmental Side Agreement and a Canadian Representative for at the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. He taught modern diplomacy at the University of Ottawa, written for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and commented on a range of subjects including Canada-EU relations, Law of the Sea, Arctic, West Coast energy and Indigenous rights.
