Michael Hüther has studied Economics and History at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen from 1982 to 1987. After completing his doctorate studies in Economics in 1991 he became research fellow at the German Council of Economic Experts where he was promoted to Secretary General in 1995. In 1999 he took the position of Chief Economist of the DekaBank and in 2001 was appointed Head of the Economics and Communications Department. He has been Honorary Professor at EBS Business School since August 2001. Since July 2004 he has been Director of the Cologne Institute for Economic Research (IW Köln).
