
Margaret Cornish, University of British Columbia
Margaret Cornish served on the International Affairs Council of Advisors established to advise Justin Trudeau when he was Leader of the Opposition. She began her career in the Canadian Foreign Service with postings in Beijing (1972-74); the Canadian Del. to the UN in New York (1971), and the Canadian Del. to the EEC in Brussels (1977-1979). She subsequently led the sovereign debt restructuring unit at Scotiabank and then headed research on Canadian industrial companies. She served as Executive Director of the Canada-China Business Council from 2003-2009. From 2010 to 2015 she was Senior Advisor and Beijing Chief Representative for Bennett Jones LLP, a Canadian law firm. She is currently an Honourary Research Fellow, Institute for Asian Research, University of British Columbia.
