
Arif Lalani, Global Affairs Canada
Arif Lalani is a career Canadian diplomat, currently serving as the Director General for International Organisations at Global Affairs Canada. He is also a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). Previously, he served as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; Canada’s first Special Envoy to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and (non-resident) Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq. Among other distinctions, he has received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and an honourary Doctor of Letters from the Canadian University of Dubai.
