Annette Ranko, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung

Dr. Annette Ranko currently serves as policy advisor for integration policy at Konrad- Adenauer-Foundation in Berlin. From 2017 to 2020 she served as the Foundation’s Resident Representative to Jordan. Prior to that she worked as a political analyst at the Middle East Department of the German Institute for Global and  Area  Studies (GIGA)  in  Hamburg, a think tank funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. As head of the GIGA’s research team “Religion and Politics” her work has focussed on contentious politics in the Middle East and on transnational Islamist movements. Dr. Ranko received two awards for her doctoral thesis on the Muslim Brotherhood.

She has authored two books ands regularly publishes in international peer-reviewed journals. From 2014 to 2015 she held an interim professorship in Islamic Studies at the University of Hamburg. She has regularly provided policy advice to the Federal Foreign Office.
